Innovative SMEs in Sustainable Mobility are awarded in El Salvador 2024-07-09 08:03:44

The CABEI, the Government of Germany through KfW, and the European Union, in collaboration with ASOMOVES, held the award ceremony for the Regional Sustainable Mobility Competition. This competition, part of the Green Mipymes II Initiative, seeks to promote the transition towards sustainable mobility in the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) sector in Central America.

Three SMEs were awarded non-reimbursable funds to develop projects that promote the reduction of pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

Tricco, winner of first place and US$7,000, proposes an electromobility alternative for people and companies, facilitating the rental and sharing of electric vehicles for logistical tasks. Akiles Ride, which received US$5,000 for second place, promotes micromobility in the university community through the use of electric bicycles and scooters. URBE, in third place with US$3,000, focuses on the repair, recycling and maintenance of batteries and electric motors, in addition to offering a rental system for scooters and electric bicycles.

The event was attended by Alejandro Zelaya, director for El Salvador at the CABEI; Borja García, chargé d’affaires ai of the European Union in El Salvador; Liliana Monteiro, local representative of KfW in El Salvador; and Marco Tomasino, president of ASOMOVES.
