Innovative out-of-home campaign: “Watch your pussy” raises awareness about cat safety at the start of hunting season

After the success of the “Watch your tail” campaign, Tierschutz Austria is following up with another unusual and courageous subject at the start of the hunting season in several federal states today. The out-of-home advertising from the leading environmental and animal protection organization once again aims to raise awareness among the general public about a nationwide hunting law – in a humorous but powerful way. This time the focus is on the safety of domestic cats. The new campaign with the provocative title “Watch your pussy” raises awareness at the start of hunting season about the dangers that cats are exposed to outside of their familiar environment.

Cats need protection from hunters

The central motif of the campaign shows a domestic cat walking beyond its garden fence into unknown territory. This imagery symbolizes the freedom that many cats enjoy and the risks that come with it, such as confrontations with hunters who are responsible for the deaths of many pets. The humorous but thoughtful slogan “Watch your pussy” alludes to the responsibility of hunters. It is up to the legislature to regulate the protection of pets in a more animal-friendly hunting law. “At the moment, pets are partly at the mercy of hunters. If an animal is more than 300 meters away from the house, live shooting is permitted,” says Martin Aschauer, spokesman for Tierschutz Austria.

Creative implementation with emphasis

As with the previous campaign, the creative minds Martin Aschauer and Lisa Sans deliberately designed the motif to be striking and with a wink. The aim is to address cat owners directly in their everyday lives – in places such as women’s toilets, where the Boomerang SanitaryPoster advertising materials are placed. The subject of the cat on the garden fence is intended to attract attention and at the same time point out the serious problem.

Graphics and design

The renowned graphic designer Jeremias Lindner is once again responsible for the visual implementation. With a minimalist design that focuses on the cat and the garden fence, combined with clear typography, the campaign stands out from the flood of conventional advertising. The striking colors and strong imagery attract the viewer’s attention and invite thought about the freedom and safety of pets.

Strengthen the protection of domestic cats

The campaign aims to raise awareness about the protection of pets. Under the slogan “Watch your pussy,” Tierschutz Austria calls on lawmakers to protect animals and ensure a safe environment.
