Asuncion, IP Agency.- This Saturday, national and local authorities participated in a day of surgeries and medical care in Iturbe, Guiará department, managing to reduce the surgical waiting list.

Minister María Teresa Barán, together with the Vice Minister of Comprehensive Health Care, Santiago García, the Director of Health Services and Networks, Derlis León, and the Director of the IV Health Region, Elías Benítez, accompanied this morning the comprehensive care day held in the district of Iturbe.

This is a joint initiative between the Ministry of Health, the Foundation of Doctors of the Promotion of 83, with the project “Giving back to the people”, and the Social Security Institute, the Ministry of Education and Science, as well as the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the UNA.

Through this effort, the waiting list for surgery in the region was shortened, significantly improving access to surgical interventions for the community.

The day was not limited to surgeries, as it continued with care from 185 doctors from various specialties, such as pediatrics, endocrinology, cardiology, allergy, ophthalmology, as well as dentistry and diagnostic studies.

These services are being provided in mobile clinics of the Ministry of Health installed in front of the Iturbe Health Center and in schools of the Ministry of Education and Science, which facilitates access to medical care for the entire community.

Through this cooperation, hundreds of residents of Guairá are receiving timely care, which directly impacts the improvement of their quality of life, the health ministry reported.

This integrated work helps reduce health inequalities by bringing medical specialties closer to the areas where they are most needed.

The Minister acknowledged and thanked all the specialists of the Foundation, with which Public Health has an agreement for this joint initiative, as well as the doctors who joined, the teams dependent on the IV Health Region, and the local and departmental authorities, who contributed to the coordination and organization of these activities, which already began weeks ago with the recruitment of patients in the Family Health Units of the department.
