Guédiawaye, Nov 24 (APS) – The King Baudouin hospital introduced innovations this year in its cervical cancer treatment strategy, Cheikh Mbaye Seck, the director of this public health establishment located in Guédiawaye (suburb of Dakar).
»In past years, we provided treatment for women who have suspicious lesions following screening, but this year we have innovated a lot, because it is not enough just to detect and treat lesions, but to do everything to eliminate, to completely eradicate cervical cancer,” he said.
Cheikh Mbaye Seck spoke on the sidelines of the second edition of the caravan called “On the road to eliminating cervical cancer”.
This caravan continues until December 9, 2023. It is part of the implementation of activities to combat breast and cervical cancer of the Ministry of Health and Social Action. , in collaboration with the Senegalese Society of Colposcopy and Pathology Related to Papilloma Virus.
At the Roi Baudoin hospital, girls aged between 9 and 14 are currently being vaccinated throughout the Guédiawaye department.
He informed that the flagship activities for the treatment of cancerous lesions continue in the health structure.
The level 1 public health establishment also donated blood as part of the innovations introduced this year.
According to him, community relays, “Badjenu Gox” (neighborhood godmothers), local and territorial administrative authorities and those in charge of educational establishments contributed to the success of this activity.
