Inland is cutting 730 school places in six places

The Labor Party, the Conservative Party and the Green Party agree on the future school and provision structure in the county, Innlandet County Municipality informs in a press release. These three parties have a majority in the county council, where the case will be heard on 23 October.

In addition, several lines will either be moved or shut down. The majority also suggests moving one school location and creating several alternative education models. The cuts come as a result of major population changes in the interior.

– Since 2013, we have lost close to 3,500 upper secondary students. There are more students than there are actually in Nord-Østerdalen, Nord-Gudbrandsdalen, Midt-Gudbrandsdalen, the Kongsvinger region and Valdres combined today! In the coming years, we will lose another 3,000 pupils. If we are to be able to provide a good, broad and stable educational offer to students in the Inland in the coming years, which meets the needs of the business world, then we absolutely had to take action now, says county mayor Thomas Breen (Ap).

These schools and school sites are proposed to be closed:

– Skarnes upper secondary school

– Dokka upper secondary school

– Dombås school, Nord-Gudbrandsdal secondary school

– Skolested Lom, Nord-Gudbrandsdal secondary school

– School site Flisa, Solør upper secondary school

– School location Sønsterud. The entire offer at the Sønsterud school site will be moved to the Våler school site at Solør upper secondary school.

Altogether, this amounts to approximately 730 fewer pupil places.
