Injury Woes: Tampa Bay Rays Ace Pitcher Shane McClanahan Unlikely to Pitch Again This Season

Everything indicates that the Tampa Bay Rays will have to manage in the services of their ace pitcher for the rest of the season.

Shane McClanahan is “very unlikely” to pitch once more this season, team manager Kevin Cash said Tuesday.

McClanahan will consult with a new specialist regarding his left arm before making a final decision on what to do next. The manager, however, suggests that an operation seems to be considered.

The 26-year-old pitcher went 11-2 with a 3.29 ERA this season. He ended up on the injured list last week following a rough start once morest the New York Yankees in which he allowed five runs.

Josh Fleming (left elbow inflammation) is currently at AAA level for fitness purposes.

Tyler Glasnow is also in bad shape, having received injections on Tuesday to treat back spasms. Cash believes he should pitch once morest the Cleveland Guardians this weekend.

The Rays have a solid lead at the top in terms of additional playoff berths in the American.
