Coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team consolidated its lead with 66 points from 28 games, ten points ahead of second-placed Sevilla, who tied 1-1 with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday in their sixth tie in eight matches.
No team has ever led the league by ten points or more and failed at the end of the season to win the title.
Vinicius Junior opened the scoring for Real in the 55th minute following a defensive error, and the Brazilian player benefited from the pass of his French colleague Benzema.
Vinicius fell inside the area following another 22 minutes, and Benzema successfully executed the penalty kick, making the score 2-0.
The French striker scored the third goal with a header in the 82nd minute, following a cross from Marcelo, but he injured his left ankle and left the field.
Real Madrid also lost its player Rodrygo to injury following he suffered a violent error in his right foot from Mallorca defender Antonio Railo.
The Brazilian winger was carried out on a stretcher with the help of Real Madrid doctors, and might not walk on his feet, and Railo received a yellow card.
Real Madrid manager Emilio Butragueno told reporters: “It was not just a foul once morest Rodrygo, but another violent foul once morest Vinicius was unacceptable.”
He added: We as members of the world of football must protect our players, and such violent play cannot be allowed in our beautiful game.
There are doubts regarding the participation of Benzema and Rodrygo in the match once morest Barcelona next Sunday, as Ancelotti does not know how severe the two injuries are.
“We have to wait for the tests later,” Ancelotti said. We hope it is not dangerous.
The Italian coach added: The team is performing strongly in the physical aspect. We played really well in the second half from a physical point of view. We have to try to win on Sunday.
Mallorca faces the danger of relegation following losing for the fifth time in a row, and remains in 16th place, two points behind the relegation zone.
