Two near-fatal incidents occurred yesterday in Pyrgos Ilias, with victims of two minor children.
First, yesterday morning, a four-year-old boy was admitted to the Emergency Department of Pyrgos General Hospital, with a serious leg injury. The child was allegedly crushed by a metal gate, under circumstances unknown so far. The child was examined by the hospital’s medical team, who made every effort to treat his injury.
Afterwards, the 4-year-old was transferred to the Karamandane Children’s Hospital in Patras, as he needed pediatric-orthopedic and pediatric surgical treatment which is not available at the Pyrgos hospital. He was taken to Patras accompanied by two doctors, a pediatrician and an orthopedist, without any concern for his life. The circumstances of the incident remain unknown and are under the microscope of the competent authorities.
In the second incident that also occurred in Pyrgos, a 15-year-old is in danger of losing his eye, as he was attacked by a 16-year-old with a broomstick. The 15-year-old was taken covered in blood to the Pyrgos Hospital and after receiving first aid he was transferred to the Karamandane Children’s Hospital where he underwent surgery.
As if this was not enough, other minors, an 18-year-old, as well as the 16-year-old, allegedly psychologically abused the 15-year-old so that he would not reveal the truth, but say that he accidentally hit a shutter, as he initially told both the doctors and the his parents.
The 15-year-old is being monitored by ophthalmologists in Patras, while his parents requested his examination by a medical examiner. At the same time, a lawsuit was filed with the AT of Patras, while the AT of Pyrgos is conducting a preliminary investigation.
