Injuries and arrests during the dispersal of the health workers’ march

Injuries of varying severity were recorded among protesters and public forces, during the dispersal of a march called for by the health sector trade union coordination, at noon today, Wednesday.

According to informed sources, some demonstrators were injured during the dispersal of the aforementioned demonstration, in addition to members of the security forces sustaining various injuries, as two members of the rapid intervention forces were transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment.

Regarding the arrest procedures, 10 participants in the march organized in Rabat were arrested, according to the organizing committee for union coordination, while security sources reported that there were a larger number of detainees.

It is worth noting that the aforementioned demonstration started from Bab Al-Ahad Square towards the Parliament building, but the security forces prevented the demonstrators from reaching their destination, also using water hoses, which increased the tension among the participants.

It is also noteworthy that the organization of this march came in response to the coordination’s call to “increase the pace of protest in unprecedented forms of struggle,” and this included calling on health workers to participate extensively in the national march from Bab al-Ahad to Parliament, which was scheduled for Wednesday, July 10, 2024, starting at 12 noon.

In addition, the coordination called on workers to participate in the protest program that began yesterday, Tuesday, and will continue until July 18, which includes a national strike in the health sectors on July 9, 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18.
