Injured Rapid newcomer Kerschbaum “quite well on the rehabilitation plan”

Individual preparation instead of team training: New signing Roman Kerschbaum has to wait for his first assignment for SK Rapid Wien due to an injury. As part of the current SCR training camp, the midfielder gives an update on his injury.

“Five rounds would still have been played. Suddenly during training, with a normal step, I got a stitch,” Kerschbaum explains regarding his ankle injury RapidTV. Since the necessary operation, he has been looking ahead once more and is on the right track when it comes to his comeback: “Now I’m pretty much back on the rehabilitation plan. I hope that I can do something individual on the pitch in the next few days.”

The ex-Admira professional cannot yet give a specific date for his first game in green and white: “It’s an unusual injury. I want to increase the load step by step. I do hope that I can train with the team in the coming weeks.”

Despite the current mandatory break, Kerschbaum is not only setting individual goals for the coming season: “The fact that we qualify for the group phase in the European Cup is very important.”

So far Kerschbaum has appeared in 13 games once morest Rapid. The last time he won with the Admira was in the seventh round of the 2021/22 season in Hütteldorf. In the 2-1 win, he scored the goal to equalize in the meantime.
