The injured Palestinian Mamdouh Faraj Khalil Al-Damaa, who is receiving treatment at Al-Arish General Hospital for his injury in the Israeli attack on Gaza, surprised everyone with his smile when he woke up and looked around to find himself among his Egyptian brothers receiving treatment.
Ibrahim Abu Latif, accompanying the injured person, told Al-Youm Al-Sabea that they were surprised by him smiling and signs of relief appeared on his face as he looked around at the General Hospital in Al-Arish, to which he was transferred yesterday as part of the first batch of Palestinians to arrive in Egyptian territory to receive treatment.
He added that “Mamdouh”, 36 years old, suffered a compound fracture in his right leg, scattered shrapnel throughout his body, and burns in his left thigh, as a result of explosions and bombing of the house and his emergence from under the rubble.
His companion continued, “Immediately following he was transferred to a hospital ArishHe rushed to meet him, a member of his family, pointing out that he was in Al-Arish among the stranded people who were on their way to Gaza, and the war had caused their travel to be disrupted.
He pointed out that the level of services provided to the wounded is very high, as everyone responds to their needs and meets their requests.
Yesterday, Al-Arish General Hospital received 35 injured Palestinians who are currently receiving the necessary treatment and medical care.
Major General Dr. Muhammad Abdel Fadil Shusha, Governor of North Sinai, said that all medical care is being provided to the wounded Palestinians while they are receiving treatment in the hospital.
The governor stressed that the capacity of the governorate’s hospitals is 300 beds, and that double this number will be received by providing additional rooms outside the hospital, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
The Governor of North Sinai indicated that vacations and rest periods for doctors, members of the nursing staff, and workers in the medical, health, ambulance, and vital equipment sectors in the governorate have been suspended, in addition to raising the degree of readiness in the health, ambulance, drinking water, veterinary medicine, and other vital sectors, and supplying the cars belonging to these entities with the necessary fuel. .
He said that the field hospital in the city of Sheikh Zuweid will begin receiving the wounded and preparing to build another in the city of Bir al-Abd, with the aim of increasing the number of beds in the governorate to receive the wounded Palestinians and raising the governorate’s capacity to 400 beds, pointing out that the field hospitals will help in treating the Palestinians’ wounds.
The governor indicated that accommodation would be provided for those accompanying the wounded Palestinians, and that all services would be provided to them, stressing that the injured would arrive successively at hospitals in North Sinai and that some cases outside the governorate would be transferred to hospitals in Cairo and neighboring governorates in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s previously prepared plan.
The governor emphasized that the governorate’s hospitals are a first medical system, the Canal Cities hospitals are a second medical system, and Cairo’s hospitals are a third medical system.
