Those affected assured that approximately six sectors are flooded.
Due to the flooding of the Cuyuní River in El Dorado, in the south of Bolívar state, families were affected by floods.
The reason was the heavy rains that were recorded in recent days, Nilsa Velásquez, a resident of the town, told scoop by telephone, that among the flooded sectors are Calle Angostura, Calle 5 de Julio and Miranda, among others.
He indicated that this Saturday night some people were forced to leave their homes due to the level of the river. For example, the maternal home of Ana Velásquez, located on Calle 5 de Julio and Miranda, is completely flooded and they move in boats to leave the village.
In the midst of the contingency, family groups look for rental options in higher areas of the town, until the river goes down. However, Nilsa added that not all are dedicated to mining and due to the country’s economic situation, many do not have the resources.
Both were emphatic when mentioning that the population of El Dorado, until now, has not received attention from the competent entities, it is for this reason that they insist on the visit of the authorities and approach the community that has a large number of children and older adults among those affected.
“Whenever it rains, the river goes out into the street, but right now El Dorado is collapsed,” said Nilsa.
Although the water reached the center of the town, the businesses had not been affected, since they are located in a “higher area”, according to what they said.
The residents reiterated the urgent call to the authorities to approach the place, asking for adequate protection for the community in the midst of the floods.
“The river has not gone down, if it continues to rain it might overflow more,” they said.
