The general practitioners of the IPS of the municipality of Convención in Norte de Santander resigned, leaving only care for the emergency service. The situation affects some 15,000 people and so far, the ESE Hospital Noroccidental de Ábrego, where the health post is attached, has not ruled.
Given the situation, those who require a service do not know where to go, as expressed by the social leader and manager of the Catatumbo Peasant Association, Carmito Abril. “We regret the news that we do not have general practitioners, three doctors are missing in our municipality, in Convención, for which we claim that we urgently need these professionals to be hired.”
The community spokesperson assures that the hospital does not stop, so it is urgent that they be hired as soon as possible. “If there are no patients, there are no doctors, if there are no patients, there is no hospital and in the municipality we are thousands of people who come to seek care, so there is no rest for health workers.”
Faced with this difficulty, leaders and the board of directors of health users of Convención are coordinating an assembly with the ESE Noroccidental de Ábrego to provide immediate solutions.
Radio Nacional de Colombia tried to contact the manager of the ESE Hospital Noroccidental, through its press office, but there was no response.
