The 4-time Grammy nominee Ingrid Andress made headlines on Monday for her botched rendition of the U.S. anthem at the MLB Home Run Derby.
The 32-year-old artist sang the verses of “The Star-Spangled Banner” completely out of tune and hesitant, and that caused the moment of his performance to go viral on social media.
In response to the uproar, Andress issued a statement in which she admitted that she sang drunk and that she has already checked into a rehabilitation center to receive help.
“I’m checking into a facility today to get the help I need. Last night was not like that. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country that I love so much for that interpretation,” Andress wrote Tuesday in an Instagram story.
The singer performed before just under 40,000 people on Monday night at the baseball all-star game held at the Globe Life Field from Texas, which had Teoscar Fernandez as a winner.
