State Secretary for Art and Culture Andrea Mayer: “An unmistakable sign of contemporary German-language literature”
Vienna (OTS) – “For the 47th time, the days of German-language literature in Klagenfurt culminated in the awarding of prizes. I would like to congratulate Anna Felnhofer on receiving the Deutschlandfunk Prize as part of this year’s Ingeborg Bachmann Prize and all the other participants, especially the winner of the competition, Valeria Gordeev,” said Andrea Mayer, Secretary of State for the Arts and Culture. “In Klagenfurt, the unifying power of literature can be felt, thanks to the broadcast by ORF and 3sat, also for us viewers on the screen. The texts presented and discussed are an unmistakable sign of current German-language literature and I am very pleased that two local authors, Anna Felnhofer and Mario Wurmitzer, were there. I wish Helena Adler and Robert Prosser, who have canceled their participation, all the best. Getting to know new texts, encountering the diversity of our language and its constant further development and change, always finding a mirror of our society in them, is enriching and exhilarating. I wish Anna Felnhofer and all other nominees and honorees every success – may the Bachmann Prize multiply it.”
