Infrastructure works for the New Neighborhood Bañado Tacumbú would be tendered this month

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) is expected to launch in the course of this month of May, the tender for works for the development of the urbanization of the New Barrio Bañado Tacumbú of Asunción.

The Minister of Public Works and Communications, Claudia Centurión, explained that this tender is to provide the place with the necessary infrastructure such as streets, electrical installation, drinking water installation, sewage, plus everything necessary to then build the first 1,500 homes in the place.

In this first tender the investment would be about USD 20 million. Subsequently, by the end of this year, the call will be made for the construction of social housing, which will require an investment of approximately USD 75 million.

“This tender is for the end of this year, first we must build all the necessary infrastructure, then the houses,” he pointed out during an interview with the media.

At another time, the minister highlighted “the truly wonderful work that is being done with the residents of the Costanera Sur.”

He recalled that this credit began several years ago with support from the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank) and support from the Ministry of Public Works directly to civil society, to the residents of Bañado Sur, who are absolutely organized.

He indicated that there are currently three types of housing, “the result of wonderful work done with people” and that work is already underway on structuring a next stage with 1,500 additional homes.
