Thiruvananthapuram: Infosys beat UST 3-0 in the finals of the “Ravis Pratidhwani Sevens” tournament between 95 IT companies at Technopark organized by Pradithwani, an IT employees’ welfare organization. Defeated Tatalexi 1-0.
Veena George, Minister of Health, Women and Child Welfare of Kerala, inaugurated the final matches held on Thursday, July 27 at 3.30 at the Technopark ground. Dignitaries like former Indian football team captain Joe Paul Ancheri, sports council secretary Leena KA and former world boxing champion KC Lekha distributed prizes to the winners.
More than 2000 IT employees from more than 100 IT companies participated in the tournament organized in collaboration with ‘Ravis Hotel Group’ and ‘UD Promotions’. More than 1500 techies had reached the ground to watch the football finals.
The first place team in the sevens tournament will get twenty five thousand rupees, an ever-rolling trophy and a one-day stay at Ravis Ashtamudi. Along with that, many prizes were given by Raviz Hotels and Yoode Promotions. The winners of the fives tournament will get Rs 10,000, a trophy and a one-day stay at Ravis Ashtamudi. Special awards were given to the best players of the tournament, top scorers and best goalkeepers. After each match, the best sportsman was given the player of the match trophy and special prizes given by ‘UD’.
The ‘Ravis Pratidhwani Sevens Football’ tournament is the biggest football tournament in the IT sector in India, in which all leading IT companies are participating. In the first week of May, Kerala Sports Council President U Sharaf Ali inaugurated the tournament. The tournament which lasted for three months ended yesterday.
