The Deputy Governor of Public Health, Anna Mastorakou, received in her office, today Tuesday, July 30, 2023, the interdisciplinary team of the new Day Center for Children, Adolescents and Young Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders PE Achaia of the IKELOS Association.
During the meeting, the Deputy Governor was informed about the opening of the Autism Day Center as well as about the services provided and the therapeutic programs.
The Day Center provides free assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services, aiming at the same time, as a community mental health unit, to strengthen the social inclusion and integration of the served into the community. The interventions of the interdisciplinary team are personalized based on the characteristics of each beneficiary and ensure continuity of therapeutic care in the community.
Mrs. Mastorakou expressed her full support for the Center’s services, emphasizing at the same time the importance of systematic cooperation with the local government to improve the quality of life of children and adolescents with autism. The meeting concluded by highlighting the need to raise awareness in society about autism spectrum disorders and to promote actions that strengthen the social inclusion of people with autism.
