Given the intensification of Tropical Storm Rafael, formerly known as Tropical Depression 18, the US diplomatic headquarters has issued a weather alert for its citizens in Cuba.
As explained, the phenomenon is expected to impact western Cuba between November 5 and 8, with the possibility of strengthening into a hurricane in the next 48 hours, before hitting the Cuban coast.
Suspension of visa appointments at the United States Embassy
Given this situation, the embassy announced that only emergency services will be offered for US citizens in Cuba during this period.
Routine consular services, including the management of immigrant and nonimmigrant visas, the review of documents and appointments for special programs such as the CFRP (Cuban Family Reunification Parole Program), are temporarily suspended. Appointments will be rescheduled directly with affected applicants.
Security measures and assistance for US citizens
For those US citizens who require assistance, the embassy has enabled the following contact channels:

The embassy recommends its citizens in Cuba closely follow the instructions of the local Civil Defense and keep local media tuned for updates on the storm. In addition, they are advised to prepare emergency kits with water and non-perishable food, as well as check the status of flights with their airlines in case of possible cancellations or delays.
🚨 Due to the expected arrival of tropical cyclone Rafael, the Consulate General of Spain in Havana will remain closed to the public on Wednesday, November 6. Appointments scheduled for that day will be rescheduled in a timely manner with those affected.
