Melilla’s Game Zone 2024 will take place from April 12 to 14 at the Melilla Puerto Hotel. The Ministry of Youth, Education and Sports has prepared a wide and varied program with a multitude of video game and recreational areas, championships, entrepreneurship spaces and broadcasts of influencers and YouTubers.

The event, aimed at a large audience of ‘geek’ culture, It has had a “major success” in its previous editions and assures that this year it will also meet the expectations of the sector.
During this edition of the Game Zone there will also be a Akira Toriyama, author of the legendary ‘Dragon Ball’ and designer of video game characters such as ‘Dragon Quest’, ‘Chrono Trigger’ or ‘Blue Dragon’, who died last March, with art and memorabilia exhibitions.
Attendees can register through the website www.gamezonemelilla.online. There is no minimum or maximum age for participants, although minors will have to have authorization from their parents or legal guardians.
Programming
The Game Zone starts on Friday the 12th in the afternoon at 5 p.m. with some League of Legends qualifiers (there will be several games with short breaks).
Saturday the 13th starts in the morning with the continuation of the ‘League of Legends’ competition from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The main competition will continue with ‘Valorant’ in the afternoon, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Regarding the secondary competitions, participants will be able to fight in ‘Brawlhalla’ (from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.), ‘Dragon Ball FighterZ’ (from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.), ‘FIFA’ (from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and ‘GoldenEye 007’ (from 6 to 8 p.m.).
In parallel, other activities will take place in the terrace area. An interactive Pop Culture Trivia will begin at 10 a.m. It will be followed at 12 p.m. by a presentation and a ‘Meet and Greet’ by The Corvus Clan.
It will continue in the afternoon, at 4:30 p.m., with a presentation by Juanjo Ruiz, CEO of Under the Bed Games.
And from 6 to 8 p.m., attendees will be able to participate in a Cosplay contest.
On Sunday the 14th, in the morning, the Valorant competition will continue, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meanwhile, in the secondary competitions, participants will be able to battle ‘Street Fighter 6’, ‘Tekken 9’ and ‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’.
Simultaneously, in the terrace area, Chema Galante (CEO of Under the Bed Games) and Jesús Serón will give two presentations. In the afternoon there will be a dubbing contest and from 6 to 8 p.m. DJ Alax will play.
Permanent Zones
During the three days that Game Zona 2024 lasts, there will be thirteen permanent zones at the Hotel Melilla Puerto so that the public can enjoy them throughout the event.
There will be one of virtual reality, which will consist of immersive experiences with the latest VR games and technologies, and one of augmented reality, combining the real world with digital elements.
Also a retro console area. It will be a space dedicated to those nostalgic for video games and will have classic consoles and emblematic titles to play. There will be another space dedicated to Arcade Planet recreations, with classic arcade machines for lovers of the genre.
On the other hand there will be a mentoring space for R&D projects and another in which they will be presented indie games developed by local creators.
But attendees will also have a rest zone, where you can relax; a Japanese food stall; a commercial area where you can purchase merchandise, games and other related items; and a stand information of the Youth Department.
