Known under the pseudonym “itslauramarra” on social networks, the influencer engaged in hidden promotion in exchange for remuneration, found the DDPP of the Alpes-Maritimes.
A new influencer, with 250,000 followers on Instagram, was pinned by Bercy for hidden . Laura Marra, better known under the pseudonym “itslauramarra” on the social networks Snapchat and Instagram, was served formal notice by the General Directorate for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF), which ordered the influencer to ‘stop deceptive marketing practices’.
An injunction formulated in the wake of an investigation by the Departmental Directorate for the Protection of Populations (DDPP) of the Alpes-Maritimes. “The investigation revealed that Ms. Laura Marra was paid by commercial partners to promote their products or services in her publications. However, the publications in question did not mention their commercial intention”, specifies the DGCCRF.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance is continuing its “name and shame” policy, which began in May. Regularly, personalities see their name displayed by Bercy, who accuses them of receiving remuneration from brands, particularly in the field of fashion and cosmetics, to carry out the hidden promotion of products in their publications.
A prohibited practice, which the law of June 9, 2023, defining the status of influencer, came to definitively regulate. “Any publication under a paid commercial partnership (post-sponsored by a brand) must make it possible to identify its character and the person on whose behalf it is carried out”, recalls the DGCCRF.
Among the other influencers pinned for illegal practices, the DGCCRF communicated the names of Capucine Anav, Anthony Matéo, Illan Castronovo, Simon Castaldi, Julien Bert, Rym Renom, Gaetan Debled or Léa Montchicourt. For the time being, Instagram has not taken any action targeting these different accounts.
