New Delhi: The BJP is planning to use the G20 summit held in India as an advantage of the Prime Minister and present it in the elections. G20 will be raised as a major campaign issue in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The BJP claims that the summit was successfully completed as a result of Modi’s leadership.
The Prime Minister himself had earlier mentioned that the summit is an opportunity to present India at the international level. Sources in the party indicate that the BJP is high on confidence as the summit ended in consensus on critical issues like the Ukraine war, climate change and sustainable and inclusive growth. It is understood that the results and key discussions of the summit will be widely publicized in the coming days and it will be touted as an achievement for the party ahead of the assembly elections due later this year.
BJP argues that even on issues like the Russia-Ukraine war, bringing world leaders together on one platform to form a consensus is not an easy task. BJP says this is acceptance of Modi’s leadership. It is reported that the BJP also plans to use the G20 to attack the opposition, which is campaigning to disparage Modi, who owns such achievements.
The BJP believes that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin’s participation in the banquet organized by the President for the guests is a result of the acceptance of Modi even by the members of the opposition alliance. BJP president JP Nadda also said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India has emerged as a global voice.
The Congress came in response to the BJP’s approach of exploiting the summit for domestic political gains. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that it is natural that success in international platforms will benefit the government. Earlier such international meetings also benefited the governments of the day. The governments of the day managed it without party politics. All the Chief Ministers were made part of the reception that day. Jairam Ramesh said that achievements at the international level should not be seen as ways to gain in domestic politics.
