The price pressure increased surprisingly in Austria in August and reached 7.5 percent following seven percent in the previous month. The main reason for the increase was fuel prices, which pushed inflation down less than in the previous months, while price pressure for household energy and food is slowly easing. “However, the particularly high price increases in September and October 2022 suggest that the previous trend towards falling inflation rates will continue in the next few months compared to the previous year,” explains Statistics Austria boss Tobias Thomas.
