According to the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the consumer price index recorded an increase of 0.8% in October 2024, compared to the month of September 2024.

This increase is mainly explained by the surge in prices in several sectors, notably that of clothing and shoes, which saw an increase of 6.2%. Restaurant and cafe services also saw a significant increase of 2.5%, while food prices increased by 0.2%.

The increase in food and beverage prices (0.2%) was driven by rising prices for specific products such as poultry and eggs, both up 1.1%. Fresh vegetables saw their prices increase by 1%, while fresh fruit and fresh fish increased by 0.5% respectively. On the other hand, a drop of 2.1% was observed in the prices of edible oils.

Concerning catering services, cafes and hotels, an increase of 2.5% was noted, due to a 3.2% increase in prices of catering services and cafes.

Clothing and shoes, which saw their prices increase by 6.2% in October 2024, coincide with the end of the summer sales period. Specifically, clothing prices increased by 6.1%, footwear prices increased by 7.3%, and fabric prices increased by 1%. Miscellaneous clothing accessories also saw their prices increase by 2%.
