Inflation in Greece fell to 4.5% in April

A new significant decline in inflation in Greece in April, according to the Eurostat data, announced a while ago, while on the contrary inflation in the Eurozone is marginally increasing.

Specifically, according to Eurostat data, inflation in Greece in April dropped to 4.5% from 5.4% in March and is the 5th lowest in the Eurozone.

At the same time, for the first time in months, there is an indication of a de-escalation of food prices, which is also a major headache for citizens and governments, however it remains at particularly high levels.

On the contrary, the annual inflation in the euro area was set at 7% in April 2023, from 6.9% in March, according to Eurostat’s estimate.

Looking at the main components of inflation in the euro area, food, alcohol and tobacco have the highest inflation. Specifically in food, the rate fell in April to 13.6%, compared to 15.5% in March, followed by non-energy industrial goods with 6.2% compared to 6.6% in March, services with 5.2% , against 5.1% in March and energy with 2.5%, compared to March which had a negative sign of 0.9%.

The highest inflation is found in Latvia with 15%, followed by Slovakia with 14% and Lithuania with 13.3%.

On the contrary, the lowest is shown in Luxembourg with 2.7%, in Belgium with 3.3%, in Cyprus and Spain with 3.8% and followed by Greece with 4.5%.
