The rise in consumer prices saw a further acceleration in France in June, reaching 5.8% on an annual basis, compared to 5.2% in May, according to a provisional preliminary estimate of the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies Thursday.
The National Institute of Statistics stated that inflation is driven by the rise in energy and food prices, which rose, respectively, by 33.1% and 5.7% compared to June 2021.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.7% in June, as in the previous month and following 0.4% in April.
According to the statement issued by the National Institute of Statistics, “energy prices will accelerate significantly in line with the prices of petroleum products.”
Prices of services rose in June by 3.2% on an annual basis, at the same pace recorded last month, while prices of manufactured goods slowed to 2.6%, compared to 3.0% in May.
Finally, the Harmonized CPI, which serves as a tool for European comparisons, rose in June by 6.5% y/y, compared to 5.8% in May.
