The Marlins added depth to their infield, acquiring White Sox infielder/designated hitter Jake Burger, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand. SportsGrid’s Craig Mish was the first to report the trade.

Burger, in his third season with the White Sox, is hitting .214/.249/.527 with 15 doubles, 25 home runs and 52 RBIs. Additionally, the slugger isn’t eligible for a salary arbitration hearing until 2026, and his first year of free agency would be in 2029.

Instead, the Marlins send Chicago their fourth-best prospect according to MLB Pipeline, left-hander Jake Eder, who currently has a 3.94 ERA in 29.2 innings (six starts) at Double-A Pensacola in 2023.
