Violetta Burdakova notes that often infectious myocarditis occurs in a mild form with minimal clinical manifestations or no symptoms at all. This is due to the fact that the signs of the underlying disease come to the fore. Often, this scenario of the disease ends favorably and does not affect the further development of the child’s cardiovascular system.
“In severe cases, young children begin to show symptoms of infectious myocarditis, usually in the form of anxiety, tearfulness, sleep disturbances, refusal to eat, rapid breathing and heartbeat, retardation in physical development, and increased body temperature,” says Burdakova.
