On the 21st, the Women and Youth Division of the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency arrested and investigated a woman in her 30s on suspicion of infanticide.
Mr. A is accused of giving birth to a baby in November 2018 and November 2019, killing him immediately, and then storing the body in a refrigerator in the apartment generation where he lives.
A, who already has three children with her husband B, a 12-year-old daughter, a 10-year-old son, and an 8-year-old daughter, was investigated for committing the crime when she became pregnant once more while experiencing economic difficulties.
In November 2018, Mr. A gave birth to a baby, the first murder victim, at the hospital, brought him home and strangled him.
He also said that in November 2019, following giving birth to a baby, the second murder victim, at the hospital, he similarly killed it near the hospital.
In the end, the police explained that the two children killed by Mr. A were all 1-day-old infants.
The police believe that Mr. A put the bodies of the babies in the refrigerator at home and kept them for several years.
It was confirmed that the sex of the two babies killed by Mr. A was one male and one female.
Previously, the Board of Audit and Inspection found that as a result of an audit of health authorities, there were cases where there were birth records but no birth reports, and notified the authorities of the results on the 25th of last month.
Suwon City, who received this audit data, started an on-site investigation of Mr. A, but when Mr. A refused to investigate, on the 8th, he requested a police investigation.
The police immediately launched an investigation, and in the process of executing the seizure and search warrant that day, Mr. A confessed to all the crimes.
Mr. A stated, “I lied to my husband that I had an abortion.”
Husband B said, “I knew that my wife was pregnant, but I did not know that she murdered the baby.”
The police arrested Mr. A in an emergency, and they plan to apply for an arrest warrant as soon as the investigation is completed.
In addition, it plans to request an autopsy to the National Institute of Scientific Investigation for the two bodies of babies found in the refrigerator to reveal the cause of death.
