INE orders Morena to stop hate campaign against the opposition

The Complaints and Denunciations Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE) ordered the national leader of Morena, Mario Slimto the party secretary, Citlalli Hernandezand the communication secretary, Diego Hernandezdelete and not repeat publications or comments in which they slander and promote the campaign in which they call “traitors to the country” to the legislators from opposition.

In a new complaint, the National Action Party (PAN) denounced that the campaign put at risk the deputies who voted once morest the Electrical Reform of the president López Obrador and fostered hatred and violence once morest him, in addition to incurring slander.

Unanimously, the Complaints and Denunciations Commission determined the granting of precautionary measures to order the withdrawal of the video and the publications related to the event where the “traitors to the country” campaign was announced and a preventive guardianship was granted to order them to be removed. Please refrain from repeating this hate speech and slander.

This week, the Complaints and Denunciations Commission had already issued the first resolution in the same direction.

It is considered that the reported publications and the context of the case lead to the consideration that the expression, phrase or accusation of ‘traitors to the country’ might constitute slander because it is the accusation of a federal crime for which the complainants have not been punished . And it is proposed to grant the precautionary measure in its preventive guardianship aspect to order the accused parties to refrain from committing this type of behavior and use this type of accusations in their acts and publications”, the Commission concluded.
