INE annuls reforms that allowed the reelection of “Alito” Moreno

MEXICO CITY.- The General Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE) decided not to validate the reforms to the statutes of the PRI that allowed the re-election of Alejandro ‘Alito’ Moreno in the national leadership.

However, he did not make a statement on the permanence of ‘Alito’ Moreno in office.

The renewal of the presidency and general secretary of the party must be resolved by the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Court of the Judicial Branch of the Federation.

PRI’s reform for ‘Alito’s’ reelection is annulled

According to the General Council of the INE, The reforms to the PRI statutes were made outside the legal deadline.

The motion was approved with seven votes in favor and four against.

The INE considered that the PRI made the modifications before the electoral process was concluded.

This contradicts Article 34 of the General Law on Political Partiesso they cannot carry out an in-depth analysis of the legality of the modifications to the basic documents.

On the re-election of ‘Alito’ Moreno as PRI leader, which was made possible by the modification of the statutes.

The INE concluded that the renewal of the Presidency and Executive Secretariat of the PRI’s NEC are issues that are outside its jurisdiction.

By expressing his vote against, Guadalupe TaddeiPresident of the Councillor INEacknowledged that the project does not provide certainty about what will happen with all the legal acts carried out after the approval of the modification to the statutes.

“It is important to note that this same criterion has already been upheld by this General Council and confirmed by the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Court,” said the councilor.

“For reasons of consistency and predictability, I believe that we should treat all political parties equally,” he said.

‘Alito’ Moreno responds to the INE

‘Alito’ Moreno announced that he will attend the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) after the ruling of the General Council of the INE not to validate the reforms to the PRI statutes.

These changes allowed Moreno Cárdenas to seek the national leadership of the PRI for the third time.

“While we respect the decision, we do not agree with it,” Moreno said.

The PRI leader assured that there are criteria approved by the Superior Court that legitimize the internal decisions of the parties.

“In accordance with the law, we will go before the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF),” he wrote through his Twitter account. X.
