AMONG Indonesian herbal health industry players are ready to promote herbal medicine as one of the original national medicinal products to the global market so that it is accepted by the world.
President Director of Combiphar Michael Wanadi in Jakarta, Saturday (28/4) stated that herbal medicine as a health product has great potential for increasing its marketing to an international scale, such as herbal products from several countries such as Korea and China.
“Why can’t our herbal medicine be known to the world like ginseng (from Korea). We want herbal medicine to be known to the world,” he said in a discussion at Air Mancur’s 60th anniversary celebration with the theme “Healthy inspiration from generation to generation”.
By combining local wisdom and innovation, the party is optimistic that it can continue to promote a healthy lifestyle and sustainable traditional Indonesian medicine to Indonesia and even the world.
One of the efforts made by the company to promote herbal medicine, according to Michael, is building reputation/product quality, raising the image of herbal medicine products, updating packaging and developing herbal medicine products for the millennial generation so that they hope to become a trend among them.
In December 2019, he continued, Combiphar acquired the herbal medicine company Air Mancur and carried out a transformation of the company from traditional herbal medicine which was previously managed conventionally to being managed in a modern way with modern technology so that it is hoped that the national product will be able to penetrate the international market.

Moreover, he continued, Indonesian herbal medicine was designated by the World Organization for Education and Culture (Unesco) as a health or wellness cultural heritage on December 6 2023 and received a certificate of recognition on April 25 2024.
“For this reason, we must actively maintain and preserve herbal medicine products. The government will ensure that this heritage is preserved, developed and utilized by the community,” he said.
