Mannheim (ots) – The Mannheim startup Loady has built and launched a master data platform as a cross-industry solution to enable the binding exchange of loading requirements along the entire supply chain. Companies using Loady keep their location and product-related logistics requirements up to date in Loady and securely share their data with their business and logistics partners.
- BASF customers are already benefiting from Loady’s service
- The logistics startup is now rolling out its service across Europe with other partners
Modern logistics processes should run as cost-efficiently and quickly as possible, which is why loading and unloading of trucks at manufacturers and their customers are closely timed. The exchange of information on charging requests is crucial for a smooth process. So far, companies have maintained the relevant requirements for charging at their locations and for unloading at customers’ sites differently. Every company must therefore keep all information from business partners up to date in their own systems. This information is then passed on to the logistics partner – usually in a free text format. Since the texts are unstructured and not standardized, they are not suitable for digital collaboration along the supply chain.
Stefanie Kraus, co-founder and CEO of Loady describes: “Especially at industrial sites in the chemical industry, there are so many different things to consider when it comes to loading and unloading. With Loady, we help to simplify and standardize the entire logistics process , from freight purchase and freight order, to transport planning and disposition, to the transport itself.”
The Loady service is already being used in the Petrochemicals division of BASF SE in Ludwigshafen. There, larger freight tenders require a lot of effort in preparation, which also includes manual verification steps of the freight data and requirements to be transmitted. Nevertheless, it happens once more and once more that charging requirements are not met. Transports are then often rejected, loading slots are lost, waiting times are longer and customers complain. In addition to avoidable costs, this causes extra kilometers and unnecessary CO2 emissions. “By managing our master data on loading requests in Loady from now on, we want to make our logistics more predictable and reliable,” says Jochen Roll, Supply Chain Manager of the Petrochemicals division at BASF SE. “By using Loady, we also enable our logistics partners to meet our expectations and those of our customers – while saving costs themselves and gaining planning security.”
In addition, processes are simplified at other points. “The previous procedure is also outdated from the point of view of digitization and automation in logistics,” says Stefan Ritschel, Vice President Supply Chain Management and Digitization in the Petrochemicals division at BASF SE. Customer service, product management and experts at the loading points are currently working flat out on data collection. As early as autumn of this year, the freight tenders for the first 500 products in the petrochemicals sector are to be mapped with data from Loady. By 2025, together with other areas of BASF, the Europe-wide transport of over 4000 products will be organized and optimized via Loady. “For the first time, there is a reliable source for loading requests that we can access from a wide variety of systems, whether in the freight order, in checklists, via online views or through direct integration into our company systems,” says Ritschel.
Loady is available as a free service for consignees who want to maintain their locations in Loady and share them with their suppliers.
About Loady
Loady is a cross-industry master data platform that allows loading requirements to be communicated seamlessly along the supply chain. Truck drivers can use the “Loady2Go” online view to access delivery-related information in German, English, Polish and Spanish directly and free of charge (in translation: Italian, Romanian, Russian). All parties in logistics – companies and trucking companies – can refer to Loady as an authoritative source.
Loady has been in since 2021 Chemovatorthe business incubator of BASF, designed and developed as a neutral, cross-industry, standardized platform. Loady is suitable for inbound and outbound transport of loose and packaged goods. The spin-off of Loady as an independent GmbH is planned for 2023. For more information, see: www.loady.com.
