The Saudi knight Abdullah Ibrahim Abdullah, who won the fifth round title in the Riyadh International Show Jumping Championship, expressed his great happiness with winning the final day of the championship, and his happiness is more that it is in a closed hall for the first time in Saudi Arabia.
The Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center in the capital, Riyadh, hosted the championship activities from the 16th to the 18th of February, as this championship is the first show jumping championship to be held in Saudi Arabia in a closed field.
Abdullah Ibrahim said: “The experience of racing inside a closed hall was not easy at all for me and my horse, as it is a new experience, but it is fun and powerful.”
He added, “The designer of the round is considered one of the most famous international designers, and there is always difficulty in open fields, let alone in a closed hall, where the spaces are less and the barriers are closer.”
Abdullah Ibrahim revealed that he chose a horse that prefers fast runs that work on the time factor, and he said, “It is a strength for my horse.”
And Abdullah Ibrahim stated that he is very excited regarding the Kingdom hosting the World Cup Show Jumping and Dressage Championship in April 2024, and in a closed hall, as it includes the best knights in the world in addition to its residence in Riyadh, and he said, “I wish success in it to the Kingdom’s knights, and I hope to participate in it.”
For his part, the rider, Saleh bin Amira, who was crowned second, thanked the Saudi Equestrian Federation for the distinguished level of organization in the first indoor tournament, and said, “We are promised a great tournament and a more wonderful organization when the World Cup of show jumping and dressage is hosted.”
He added: “I have previously participated in external tournaments inside closed halls, but I did not find a more beautiful hall than the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center, and I dream of obtaining a distinguished horse to participate in the big runs.”
The Lebanese equestrian, Tony Assaf, participating in the Riyadh International Championship, described Riyadh’s preparations to host the great sporting event represented in the World Cup of Show Jumping and Dressage in April 2024 as very wonderful, and he said, “What I felt in the Riyadh International Championship in terms of organization, preparations, and the presence of the most prominent barrier designers indicates great work.” for the Grand Championship.
The rider, Tony, explained that the fifth round in the Riyadh International Championship was not easy, and the competition in it was strong, and the barriers and their design were very impressive, and he said, “You need the participating riders to focus more and prepare the horses to turn and jump barriers.”
The Lebanese rider confirmed that the calendar of the equestrian season in Saudi Arabia is distinguished and developed from year to year, and he said: “Every year I come here, I find a great development compared to the other year. I see remarkable progress at all levels, especially the reception of the largest and most important knights and professional organization. “.
