Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Wednesday demanded a comprehensive review of stadium conditions across the country and told reporters that investigations into the riots and stampede that killed at least 131 people, including children, last Saturday must be completed quickly.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo said Wednesday that the International Football Association (FIFA) may help his country in managing the affairs of the popular game in his country, following a phone call in this regard between him and FIFA President Gianni Infantino following a tragic accident in a stadium earlier this week.
The president also called for a comprehensive review of stadium conditions across the country and told reporters that investigations into the riots and stampede that killed at least 131 people, including children, last Saturday must be completed quickly.
During a visit to the stadium where the disaster occurred in East Java and meeting with some of the families of the victims, the president noted that the main problem with the stampede and rioting was “closed doors and high stairs.”
