The Indonesian government’s humanitarian aid for Palestine has arrived at Cairo International Airport, Egypt, Thursday (4/4).

The humanitarian aid arrived in Cairo following flying for approximately 12 hours using a Garuda Indonesia A330-900 aircraft. The Indonesian delegation for humanitarian missions took part in the mission.

The delegation led by the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Lieutenant General TNI Suharyanto, brought humanitarian aid worth IDR 15.1 billion. The assistance consists of medicines, medical equipment, logistics and other items according to requests stated in a diplomatic note from the Egyptian government.

This assistance for Palestine is provided through the Egyptian Government considering that there are approximately 1.5 million Palestinian refugees in Rafah City, Egypt. Apart from that, several hospitals in Egypt also treat victims of the conflict in the Palestinian territories.

This aid delivery was carried out on orders from President Joko Widodo. During the release of humanitarian aid carried out the previous day, Wednesday (3/4) at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, Jokowi said this aid showed the Indonesian government’s commitment to maintaining world peace and being actively involved in various humanitarian missions, both due to war and disaster.

The signing ceremony for the minutes of the handover of humanitarian aid was carried out in the VIP room at Cairo International Airport, between the Head of the Legal and Cooperation Bureau of BNPB Irma Dewi Rismayati, and the Associate Minister for International Relations of the Ministry of Health and Population Hatem F Amer.
