The Indonesian Boccia Team has secured a medal at the 2024 Paralympics. This is a historic achievement, as this is the first time Indonesia has had a representative in the Boccia sport at the Paralympics.
The Red and White Team successfully qualified four names for the 2024 Paris Paralympics. They are Gischa Zayana, Muhammad Afrizal Syafa, Felix Ardi Yudha and Muhammad Bintang Satria Herlangga.
Official information obtained by Media Indonesia from NPC Indonesia from Paris, the presence of Bintang Satria et al. who bring great potential, is the reason the Indonesian contingent decided to send the Boccia Team early to France.
In fact, they were sent to France earlier with the archery athlete team since August 5, 2024. This early departure gave the Boccia Team more time to adapt.
“The opportunity to adapt longer has made Indonesian athletes perform impressively at the 2024 Paralympics. One ticket to the final has been sealed by Bintang Satria Herlangga in the men’s BC2 individual event,” said Deputy Secretary General of NPC Indonesia, Rima Ferdianto.
Bintang successfully made it to the final after beating Slovakian representative, Robert Mezik, with a landslide score of 6-1 at South Paris Arena 1, Sunday (1/9) afternoon WIB.

Bintang also expressed his joy after securing a ticket to the final, after defeating Robert Mezik, a representative from Slovakia in the semifinals. “This match was a bit tense because it’s already the semifinals,” said Bintang after the match.
It was not the first time that the meeting with Robert Mezik had occurred. Before both of them qualified for the 2024 Paralympics, the two had met at a championship in Portugal and Bintang emerged victorious.
“Of course he is more prepared because he has been to the Paralympics many times. I didn’t expect to make it to the final. I will give my best for Indonesia,” said Bintang.

Boccia Indonesia also still has the potential to win two bronze medals through Gischa Zayana in the women’s BC2 individual number and Muhammad Afrizal Syafa in the men’s BC 2 individual number.
Gischa Zayana will face the representative of Great Britain, Claire Taggart on Sunday (1/9/2024) at 22.00 WIB and Syafa Afrizal will also face the representative of Great Britain, David Smith at 23.10 WIB.
In addition to the individual numbers, the Indonesian Boccia team is still participating in the BC1 and BC2 team numbers. The team numbers will be competed starting Tuesday (3/9/2024) afternoon WIB. (N-2)
