Indonesian Badminton Team Flies to France Ahead of Olympics – 2024-07-15 16:32:23

The Indonesian badminton team that will compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics flew to France on Saturday (13/7). The team will head to the city of Chambly for a training camp for approximately 10 days before entering the athletes’ village in Paris on July 24.

The badminton team flew in two groups via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The first group used Emirates EK357 at 17:40 WIB while the second group used Qatar Airways QR957 at 18:30 WIB.

The team’s departure was marked by representatives of the Indonesian NOC, representatives of CdM, and the Secretary General of PBSI who is also the Chair of the PBSI Ad Hoc Team for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Fadil Imran.

“To the athletes and officials, I have a message, please maintain a conducive situation for the maximum performance of our athletes. Maintain a joyful atmosphere in our struggle.

“We can be happy when our hearts are sincere. We have prepared everything, have done a lot of innovation, and now it’s time to pick up our destiny at the 2024 Paris Olympics,” said Fadil.

“Hopefully we will meet once more at Soekarno-Hatta Airport with joy and pride, which we dedicate to the Indonesian nation and state,” added Fadil.

The badminton competition will take place from July 27 to August 5. Head of Development and Achievement Division of PP PBSI Ricky Soebagdja conveyed the good condition of all team members.

“Today we flew to France with 49 people. Nine athletes who will compete in the Olympics, five technical coaches, three physical coaches, support teams such as physiotherapists, masseurs, doctors, psychologists, sparring teams and mentors,” said Ricky.

“The goal is for the children to be more motivated, more confident so that they can bring out all their abilities when the time comes. The condition so far, thank God, is all good, hopefully in the remaining time they can maintain their performance,” added Ricky.

Ricky emphasized that following the training camp, some of the team will return to Jakarta.

“We did bring a fairly large team for the training camp, but following entering the athletes’ village on July 24, some of the team will return to Jakarta,” said Ricky.

Men’s doubles athlete Fajar Alfian asked for prayers and support from all Indonesian people.

“Today we depart for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Please pray and support from all Indonesian people so that we are given a smooth journey and can give the best achievements for the Red and White,” Fajar hoped. (Z-6)
