PELITA Air officially released the Seeds from the Sky program as a result of collaboration between Pelita Air and the Pertamina Foundation in a mission to reduce the carbon footprint of aircraft. This program was launched as a form of consistency in committing to environmental sustainability.
Air transportation observer Gerry Soejatman welcomed the program because it was considered to support efforts to reduce carbon emissions, especially those caused by airlines.
“This is a great idea, and it deserves more publicity, and there should be more airline Indonesia does this. Hopefully we can move on to the passenger option of purchasing CO² offset for their journey,” he said, quoted from a press release, Wednesday (2/10).

The way to contribute to the Seeds from Heaven program can be done via the Pelita air website, namely the minimum donation amount to participate starts from IDR 50,000.
That is the equivalent of planting one tree and absorbing 25-40 kg of CO2, or the equivalent of reducing the pollution of a 100 km car journey. Every incoming donation will be reported via email including documentary evidence in the form of a tree planted with the donor’s name tag.
“We are traveling today for the sake of our children and grandchildren, which means we also have to protect our earth for our children and grandchildren,” concluded Gerry. (J-3)
