The Indonesian archery team underwent the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifying round as planned after all teams advanced to the elimination round.
“Overall, the Indonesian archery team performed according to the scenario during preparation. With these results, all teams will continue to the elimination round. Hopefully the positive trend can be maintained,” said Indonesian Archery Team Manager Azis Armand to reporters, Friday (26/7).
In the qualifying round which took place at the Invalide green open park, Paris, France, Thursday (25/7), individually for the women’s recurve, Diananda Choirunisa was ranked sixth with a total of 670 points, Rezza Octavia was ranked 32nd with a total of 650 points, and Syifa Nurafifah was ranked 43rd with a total of 640 points.
The results of the qualifying round showed a positive trend. Diananda Choirunisa and Syifa Nurafifah achieved personal bests and Rezza achieved a season best. This means that the three of them recorded the best total points throughout their careers. With these results, as a team, the three of them pocketed a total of 1960 points and were ranked seventh.
Meanwhile, Arif Pangestu, who competed alone in the men’s recurve category, achieved a total of 640 points and was ranked 40th.
The following matches will be continued with the elimination round. The Indonesian women’s team will appear on Sunday (27/7) in the quarter-finals against the Malaysian women’s team.

From the women’s individual category, in the last 32 round which will take place on Tuesday (30/7), Diananda will face Dutch archer Laura van der Winkel and Syifa Nurafifah will challenge Indian archer Kaur Bhajan. In the same last 32 round on August 1, Rezza will face Canadian athlete Virginie Chenier.
In the men’s individual event, Arif Pangestu competed in the last 32 against Taiwanese archery athlete Tang Chih-Chun.
“We expect support and prayers from the Indonesian people so that Indonesian archery athletes can present their best for the country. We long for Indonesian archery to break the chain of title drought at the Paris Olympics,” concluded Azis.
