The competition is scheduled for the period between May 20th and June 11th, in various locations in Sumatra, Java and Bali.
FIFA has canceled the under-20 World Cup draw, which was due to take place on Friday in Bali, following Indonesia asked for a veto of Israel’s participation.
Those responsible for Indonesian football said in a statement that they did not have an official justification for this cancellation of the draw, but linked the situation with the letter from the governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, in which he asked for the absence of the Israelis.
The cancellation of Friday’s draw follows a letter sent on March 14 to the Indonesian government, in which it was asked to veto Israel’s participation, considering that the country’s policies towards Palestine are not in line with the Indonesia.
The president of the Indonesian Football Federation, Arya Sinulingga, said he was looking for a solution with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, but warned of the consequences of a possible cancellation of the competition.
Sinulingga made it clear that such a scenario might lead Indonesia to be left out of any aspirations to another FIFA organization and that even the country’s youngest categories might be excluded from competitions.
