Indonesia Seeks Investment from French Farmers to Boost Cattle Industry

DEPUTY Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Sudaryono made an official visit to Paris, France. One of them was to meet with representatives of the French Farmers and Breeders Association. This meeting aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the agriculture and livestock sectors between the two countries.

In the meeting held at the association’s center, Sudaryono conveyed Indonesia’s commitment to deepening cooperative relations in the field of agricultural and livestock technology.

“We see great potential in increasing production efficiency through the adoption of advanced technology from France. This will also improve the welfare of farmers and ranchers in Indonesia,” said Sudaryono in an official statement, Saturday (7/9).

In the meeting, Sudaryono also explained about the free nutritious meal program which is one of the priorities of the Prabowo Subianto government.

“The President-elect of Indonesia (Prabowo Subianto) in supporting the nutritious food program for students in Indonesia starting next year aims to prepare the future of our country which is the next generation of our country with sufficient and adequate protein,” said Sudaryono in front of the association.

Not only that, in the seemingly friendly meeting, Sudaryono emphasized that the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture that he now leads must get something concrete from the meeting. Not just lip service.

“And the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture has taken the initiative to bring live livestock to our country in the coming year by inviting the private sector to invest in Indonesia,” he said.

“I am very eager to execute something. I don’t want to go back to my country without any follow-up. Let’s start something. Let’s start small to show that the close relationship between our two countries,” Sudaryono continued.

According to him, the association and private sector in the agricultural and livestock sector in France are concrete steps to strengthen exports of Indonesian agricultural products while opening up opportunities for wider cooperation.

“In order to improve the competence and competitiveness of young farmers and livestock breeders, we are encouraging training initiatives and internship programs in France which are expected to provide valuable experience and knowledge transfer to optimize sustainable agricultural and livestock practices in the country,” he concluded.

The French Association of Farmers and Livestock welcomed the initiative from the Indonesian side. The head of the association expressed his readiness to support technology transfer, human resource training, and joint investment in the sustainable agriculture sector.

Sudaryono emphasized the importance of cross-country cooperation in facing global challenges such as climate change and food security.
