Indonesia – Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi renewed her country’s call to support Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.
This came during her meeting yesterday, Thursday, with the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, according to a post she posted on the X platform.
“We had a fruitful discussion on providing international support to Palestine and implementing the two-state solution (Palestinian and Israeli) through the work of the UN committee,” Marsudi said.
The Minister stressed the need to provide humanitarian aid without obstacles to Palestine.
She stressed the need for “Israel to end its illegal occupation and settlements, and to support Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.”
Palestine has the status of a “non-member state” with observer status at the United Nations, following a resolution adopted by the General Assembly by a large majority on November 29, 2012.
On May 10, the UN General Assembly voted in favor of a draft resolution supporting Palestine’s application for full membership in the United Nations.
For 9 months, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza with absolute American support, leaving more than 125,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, which has put Tel Aviv in international isolation and led to its being prosecuted before the International Court of Justice.
Israel continues its war despite two UN Security Council resolutions calling for an immediate halt, and orders from the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
