INDONESIA Dance Company (IDCO), in collaboration with Jakarta Art House, held a press conference for the launch of the teaser video and main poster of The Jungle Book dance recital on Friday (9/8), at @America, Pacific Place.

The event was attended by various media and theater communities who provided support for the performing arts, especially The Jungle Book, an international class dance performance that will be held on August 31 – September 1, 2024.

In the press conference, IDCO Creative Director, Siti Soraya, who also plays Bagheera, and Michael Halim as the choreographer and main actor of Mowgli, explained their preparation process which had been carried out for months.

The choice of the title The Jungle Book was based on the popularity of this story in various circles, which offers a thrilling adventure and a variety of animals and fauna that can be illustrated through dance movements, making it an eternal selling point.

The press conference also served as the launch of the official teaser video and poster of The Jungle Book. The launch introduced two different concepts: one highlighting the warmth and excitement of Mowgli’s adventure with his friends, Bagheera and Baloo, while the other concept emphasized IDCO’s strong identity by showcasing the performers’ dancing skills and animal movements.

Aldy Inzaghi, Founder of Jakarta Art House and Producer of The Jungle Book, stated, “We present elements that differentiate The Jungle Book from the original novel, with different set designs and several Indonesian elements that are adapted.”

The Jungle Book production journey by IDCO and Jakarta Art House involved the hard work of around 60 dancers and 100 crew since February 2024. Previously, Indonesia Dance Company had staged the Dance of Life performance in 2023, and Jakarta Art House produced the musical theater Mamma Mia! The Musical in the same year. (RO/Z-3)
