Indonesia criminalizes extramarital sex; The law also applies to tourists World | Deshabhimani

Jakarta
The Indonesian Parliament has passed a law banning extramarital sex. It was forbidden for men and women to live together without marriage.

Violation of the law is punishable by up to one year in prison for adultery. The law applies to foreigners living in Indonesia and visiting tourist destinations including Bali. Concerns have been raised that the new law will affect Indonesia’s image as a tourist destination. It made it a crime to criticize the president or government institutions and to express an opinion contrary to Indonesian values.
