**Interview with Tari Wirtjes, Pound Icon Indonesia and Pound Sea Market Manager**
*Editor:* Tari, thank you for joining us today! It’s exciting to hear about the rapid growth of POUND in Indonesia. Can you share what you believe has contributed to its popularity since its introduction in 2016?
*Tari Wirtjes:* Thank you for having me! The growth of POUND in Indonesia has indeed been extraordinary. One significant factor is the enthusiasm of the Indonesian people for fitness and new experiences. The combination of cardio, Pilates, and drumming resonates well with many, making workouts feel more like a party rather than a chore. We’ve also tailored our classes to fit various community spaces, allowing us to reach people beyond big cities.
*Editor:* That’s fascinating! You mentioned that POUND is popular even in smaller areas. Can you elaborate on how the flexibility of location has impacted its growth?
*Tari Wirtjes:* Absolutely! POUND classes can easily be held in studios, malls, parks, or open spaces, which means we can engage diverse audiences. This flexibility allows us to organize community events in smaller towns like Penajam and Muara Badak, where people might not have access to traditional gyms.
*Editor:* In 2019, Indonesia set a Guinness World Record for the most POUND participants. How did that event come about, and what did it mean for the movement here?
*Tari Wirtjes:* The record event was a landmark moment for us. It was a collaborative effort among various POUND instructors and fitness enthusiasts across the nation. Achieving this recognition brought even more awareness to the sport and the incredible community we have here. It showcased Indonesia as a center for POUND in Southeast Asia and inspired neighboring countries, like Malaysia, to follow suit.
*Editor:* It sounds like POUND is making a significant cultural impact. What do you see for the future of POUND in Indonesia and the region?
*Tari Wirtjes:* I believe we’re just getting started. We aim to continue growing our community and even introduce more POUND instructors to keep the momentum going. The positive response from the public has motivated us to explore new partnerships and expand into even more regions. We hope to inspire a lifestyle change that emphasizes fun, fitness, and well-being through engaging activities like POUND.
*Editor:* Thank you, Tari! It’s exciting to see how POUND is evolving in Indonesia, and I look forward to seeing how it continues to inspire many more in the future.
*Tari Wirtjes:* Thank you! We’re incredibly passionate about POUND and can’t wait to see where it goes next!
