INDONESIA’S attitude and support for Palestinian independence has not changed. The DPR RI Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) has always been consistent in monitoring Palestinian issues in various international forums. Starting from the World Parliament forum, the Asian Parliament, ASEAN, Asia Pacific, and almost all regional and international Parliamentary conference platforms.

“So the initiative of the BKSAP DPR RI in various forums, especially in the IPU, always gets quite a lot of support and they also really appreciate it. We are also in the Asian Parliament forum, initiating the formation of the Palestinian community, the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, and also in the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine. I am also the Vice President of the World Parliamentary League for Palestine,” said the Chairman of the BKSAP DPR RI Fadli Zon after receiving an honorary visit from the Former Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh and the Palestinian Ambassador Zuhair Al-Shun in the Delegation Room, Nusantara III Building, DPR RI, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (26/8).

Faldi said Indonesia has never stopped raising the issue of Palestine in various forums. Including expanding its wings to countries that until now have not recognized Palestine as an independent country.

“So now there are 149 countries that recognize Palestine as an independent country, we hope for more. Among other things, this is what we can do from the side of parliamentary diplomacy,” said Fadli.

“So I also told him that from the government, parliament, civil society and Indonesian community organizations, all support Palestine to this day, including support for humanitarian aid. We are indeed having difficulty distributing it, but I think in the near future there may be a way out,” he continued.

In addition, Fadli, who is also a member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, hopes that all factions in Palestine can unite. “And then countries that have concerns about Palestine must join and coordinate,” concluded the politician from the Gerindra Party faction. (Z-3)
