Sunday (14/9/2022) is not a normal day for Shahnaz Indira. A new milestone was etched into Shahnaz Indira’s experience as a newcomer model as she walked the runway of Irish designer Simone Rocha.
Shahnaz’s name was immediately discussed in cyberspace. Not only because her appearance took place at the caliber of London Fashion Week (LFW), one of the most important agendas in the world fashion calendar, but also because of her figure as a woman with a curvy or fuller body.

Shahnaz is not the first Indonesian model to appear at London Fashion Week. Previously, there was Rizal Rama who also appeared on Simone Rocha’s catwalk. However, he became a model curvy The first from Indonesia to reach the international fashion stage.

The appearance of this woman who was born in Jakarta, May 27, 2003, was then flooded with praise. Shahnaz Indira considered successful proves that women like her who are outside the ‘beauty standards’ of society in general have the same opportunities.
“I never thought I’d be able to get here. Just to appear for Indonesian designers, I’m already very proud,” said Shahnaz from London when talking with Wolipop through a virtual meeting, Thursday (22/9/2022).
Doing the modeling profession never crossed his mind. Shahnaz, who claims to dream of becoming an architect, realizes that his body is far from the criteria of most models: slim, tall, half-faced.
Until one day I-vy Models, a local modeling agency, offered her a job as a model and made her a little aware of a potential she didn’t see herself.
What was previously considered a weakness has become an added value and is unique to Shahnaz. Just starting her career as a model last year, she received a call from the international modeling agency Milk Model Management, which led to London Fashion Week.
Shahnaz arrived in London just moments following the world was shaken by the news of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, Thursday (8/9/2022). There was uncertainty whether London Fashion Week would continue or not as Britain entered a period of 10 days of mourning. Burberry even canceled his solo show in honor of the Queen.
“But I always try to think positively. At least there is one show that I can participate in,” said the eldest of two children.
Still strong because the time difference did not prevent Shahnaz from auditioning back and forth. He might attend five castings a day. “I ran there, ran here, because the time was really tight. It’s really fun to arrive ngos–breathless” he said.
Shahnaz’s struggle paid off when he received news that Simone Rocha wanted to include her as a model.
Simone Rocha is one of the designers whose work is always anticipated at LFW. Simone’s creations have accompanied the appearance of world celebrities several times, including Princess of Wales Kate Middleton.
LFW is over but Shahnaz Indira will stay temporarily in London until at least November. “In the next few months there will be a commercial week. Models are still being sought for collection presentations. So I’ll stay here first to see the opportunities that exist,” he said.
