Jeddah: According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the indigenization commitment of private companies in Saudi Arabia has increased to 95 percent. This indicates the strictness of the institutions in complying with the law requiring the implementation of indigenization in the professions. The inspection report also shows that most of the institutions are scrupulous in complying with the law. The report was prepared as part of the continuous inspections conducted by the Ministry to ensure that the decisions on indigenization are being implemented.
In 2021, the teams under the Ministry made more than 10 lakh visits to private institutions across the country for this type of inspection. Field monitoring indicators indicate that the indigenization compliance rate has reached 95 percent in the institutions visited. The number of labor observers in the Ministry of Human Resource and Social Development has increased to 1,058. Out of them 806 are Field Observers, 95 Special Mission Observers and 257 Office Observers.
Efforts are being made under the Ministry of Human Resources to accelerate the indigenization process in the labor market through clear and strategic plans aimed at creating more employment opportunities for the citizens of the country. The ministry recently launched the Nitakhat Developer Program to support the employability of private sector workers. It will provide employment to over 340,000 people till 2024.
The decision to calculate the minimum wages in specific categories and categories has also started to be implemented. According to the Saudi General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI), the number of Saudis in the private sector has risen to 23 lakh for the first time. This is 25 percent of the total number of employees in Saudi Arabia. The number of foreign workers is more than 65 lakhs. According to the report, specific and localized indigenization programs focused on each region helped increase the ratio.
