Jeddah: Foreign workers will leave more jobs in Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of Human Resources has stated that it has decided to indigenize more jobs and job sectors. It will be implemented with the participation of various departments. The ministry also said that the indigenization of a group of jobs has already been implemented.
Indigenization will include project management, procurement, sales, commodity operations, outlets for providing services to commodity brokers, and outlets for ladies’ decorative tailoring operations. It will be implemented in several phases across the country. Official sources also stated that the aim is to provide more job opportunities to Saudi citizens and increase their participation in the labor market.
Indigenization of project management jobs will include project management manager and project management specialist. It is being implemented in two phases in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipal-Rural Affairs and Housing. The plan is to indigenize 35 percent in the first phase and 40 percent in the second phase. The decision will apply to project management jobs in an organization employing three or more workers. The minimum wage for these posts is 6,000 riyals.
50 percent of pre-procurement jobs in establishments employing 3 or more workers will be indigenized. Procurement jobs include purchasing manager, purchasing representative, contract manager, private label procurement specialist, and bidding specialist. It has been decided to indigenize 15 percent of sales jobs in firms employing five or more workers.
Sales professions include sales manager, internal sales and customer service manager, patent specialist, marketing sales expert, printer and copying equipment salesman, computer sales person, sales representative, retail sales manager, Jobs include Wholesale Sales Manager, Commercial Specialist and Sales Specialist.
14 jobs will be indigenized at outlets providing services to cargo operations and cargo brokers. It will be implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services and the Public Transport Authority. It has also been decided to completely indigenize the administration jobs in the outlets that provide ladies decoration and tailoring services.
It has also been stipulated that there should be one Saudi female worker in technical occupations if 10 or more female workers are employed in these outlets. The Ministry of Human Resources said that it will be implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipal-Rural Affairs and Housing. The Ministry of Human Resources also said that the implementation of the second phase of indigenization in the postal and parcel transport sector has started from April 1.
